Email RSS subscription – Update

It works :-) . Subscribe away!

As far as I know I have no way to tell who is subscribed (the subscription and deliver is handled by the R|mail web service). So this is just as anonymous as checking the site from a browser in the usual way.

Email RSS subscription

Apparently the non-responsiveness of the R|mail subscription service was a problem with their server. I have now tried subscribing to a feed from smh.com.au and from my own site, the latter using the widget I put on the welcome page. I successfully received acknowlegements of both by email and have confirmed the subscriptions. If it’s working, then I should see an email notifying me of this site update.

Sunday morning

I spent some time yesterday (actually more than I should have given the other things I need to get done this weekend) tweaking the design of the website. The colours are starting to look a little more coordinated now and the page headings are a bit easier to see. However there are still plenty of other things that I want to fix.

Saturday

Not much to report today, except that I’m feeling a bit washed out. Some stress at work this week and I haven’t been sleeping too well. I woke this morning feeling a bit groggy and went for a run to blow the cobwebs, but just wasn’t feeling a lot of energy. Even after half a mile I wanted to stop, but struggled on to 3 miles. At that point I stopped and walked the rest of the way. A bit disappointing since the last time I ran (a week and a half ago), I set a new 6 mile PB of 54:33.45.

Blade Debut

Finally got the Blade in the water on Saturday. It was good, but it wasn’t an exercise in plain sailing.

Crown hauls in cash bonus

New Zealand Herald – Thursday 22, September 2005

Finance Minister Michael Cullen: “To further fuel consumption under these circumstances would simply risk pushing up interest rates.”

The Man Who Knew Too Much

I’m a big Hitchcock fan and just finished watching this one last night. I found out later that it’s actually a remake of a version he made in the 30′s. Tthis one was made in about ’54, and starred Jimmy Stewart and Doris Day. Perhaps not his greatest work, but very enjoyable nonetheless. The story is about a man whose family is on vacation in Marrakech when they witness the murder of a foreign agent, who in his dying breath gives Stewart information about an plot to assassinate a foreign dignatary in London. Long story short – the young son of Stewart and Day is kidnapped and they are threatened with harm to him if they tell anyone what they know.

Weekend wrap-up

Continued working on the boat this morning and actually skipped church in the hope that I might have been able to get to the water today.

Saturday morning update

Dave and I managed to get the diamond wires on the mast last night. Yay! Then had dinner at Chillies, down the road. Ate to much, of course. So it’s just as well I went running this morning: 57:25:36! Much cooler air this morning, but the running was still incredibly hard work, and I was surprised to set a new PB, let alone by over a minute. I think I need a nap!
